Sales were up 29 percent in April to 7,500, and they are at 29,000 year-to-date. I mean, I like this truck and everything it does well. But how is this gaining sales when we have a fresh Tacos on a Ridgeline in Colorado?

I think its because its just a good simple truck. I see them in the parking lot at work and at least visually they look much more compact than the Colorado or the Tacoma. I also think its a handsome little truck. The Colorado looks pretty good to me too, but I think the new Tacoma looks like shit.

Honestly I think it’s their incentives, and pricing strategy. Otherwise, it’s the worst choice.

Do you guys not have the Navara\Frontier yet? There’s one in my carpark at work, can’t really tell from the front that it’s all new, not until you see the side and back does it look more curvy and even the I only noticed because one of my friends has an old shape one!

Probably the cheapest OTD. Being such an old platform I imagine the factory margins are pretty good so the dealer has more wiggle room. Plus since the new platforms have demand they can afford to wait until someone comes by later and pay sticker.

They went to a Nissan dealership looking for the new Titan and realized they’ll never need it?

That’s what I was thinking. But 29% gain.. dang. They must be really cheap.

I’m sure this helps. Do you think interest is spiked in this size because of the Colorado?

Few items:

1. The new Nissan Navara appears to be a really nice mid-size truck, I would be quite happy if it came to the US.

2. Tacomas have been the perennial leader for this segment, but I’m not fan due to the unboxed frame and rust issues. If the Tacoma was as tough as the Hilux, I would be all over it.

3. That Ram compact truck is hideous and will never be built.

4. A Wrangler based small pickup would be delightful. Please build it rather than or in addition to the Renegade based pickup mentioned at the Jeep Jamboree this year.

That is all

It’s because it sold so crappily recently, that getting a low-number increase in sales due to gas prices results in a high-percent increase.

1. The Navara does seem like a nice truck. I would love to see in the US because it would help drive more competition in the segment. Also a Pro 4x model would be awesome.

2. Unboxed frame? It’s only rated to hold 10 lbs less than the GM twins.

3. Mini Ram - agrreeeeeeddddddd

4. It would be so cool if they made both. If only one then I go with Wrangler based truck for sure. But if they can do both I would not be upset!

It’s pretty amazing how well they have aged. In some colors, they still look really nice. When I see them in person I’m never disappointed in the styling.

Probably because the value you get at ~33k is better than similar packages on a taco which cost almost 40k (proforks vs turd pro)
